Li Jingliang: The whole of China is behind me

Li Jingliang might be the only fighter representing China on the UFC Singapore card this weekend, but the surging welterweight says he has the support of 1.4 billion people.

“I don’t fight alone,” Li said via a translator at this week’s Ultimate Media Day. “All the Chinese people are behind me and China has a lot of people.”

The Leech (12-4) is set to face Frank Camacho (20-4) on the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 111 and says he is feeling as fit as ever.

“I’m feeling great. Frank Camacho is a very powerful opponent and he’s on a winning streak. But I have been working really hard on boxing, conditioning and jiu jitsu for this match and I’m going to use it for the fight.”

Li comes to bout having renewed his deal with the UFC for another four fights. He says he is now ready to take on the biggest names in the welterweight division.

“The new deal is very good, I’m quite satisfied,”

“Every fight is an important fight, but I’m looking to get into the 10 of the welterweight division, so I see the next fight as the most important fight.”

The only thing left for the UFC now, he says, is to get itself to China, which by some accounts may happen sooner rather than later.

“It’s my wish for the UFC to be in China. We need to have the UFC as soon as possible.”
