Bi Nguyen and Itsuki Hirata emerged as two promising atomweight contenders in 2019. Now, they are now set to do battle on the preliminary card of ONE: Warrior’s Code in Jakarta.

ONE has announced the complete lineup for the 7 February card, set for the the Istora Senayan. In the main event, Thailand’s Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy will take on Jamal Yusupov for the inaugural featherweight Muay Thai title.

Petchmorakot is one of the most prolific strikers in the prestigious ONE Super Series. With a career spanning over 200 professional bouts, Petchmorakot has claimed Lumpinee Stadium World Championships in two divisions, as well as a WMC Muay Thai title.

Yusupov made his ONE debut last November, upsetting Thai legend Yodsanklai via second round knockout.

Atomweight contenders

One intriguing matchup however sees top female prospects take another step up the atomweight ladder. After a solid 2019, “Killer Bee” Nguyen takes her next big challenge against undefeated Hirata.

Itsuki Hirata remains undefeated.

Nguyen pits her grit and experience against the Japanese rising star’s vaunted grappling. Nguyen certainly faces another stern test, as all of Hirata’s victories have thus far come by submission.

Further down the card and ONE has lined up former featherweight champion Marat “Cobra” Gafurov to face undefeated Iuri Lapicus in a lightweight bout.

Gafurov will return after an impressive win over Tetsuya Yamada, while Lapicus extended his winning streak to 13 with a submission win over Shannon Wiratchai.

Indonesian veteran Sunoto returns to action against China’s Yang Fei, while Egi Rozten will take on fellow Indonesian Fajar.
