ONE Warrior Series Japan trials announced for 8 March

The past 12 months were big for ONE Championship’s ONE Warrior Series and 2020 is shaping up as another big year for the talent scouting spin-off.

ONE has announced the first of six tryouts for the ONE Warrior Series in 2020. The first will take place in Osaka on 8 March.

Rich Franklin, who heads up the series as CEO, said expectations are high.

“We are looking to make several additions to the roster with a busy year of recruiting, in both mixed martial arts and super series kickboxing.”

The tryouts will be held at Hotel Vischio Amagasaki and applicants must register online in order to participate. All applicants must also pass initial screening, after which they will receive confirmation via email with further details.

In 2019 a handful of ONE Warrior Series competitors earned contracts with ONE, including South Korea’s Dae Sung Park and Woon Kyoum Kim, Rockie Bactol from the Philippines and Ali Motamed.

Several Japanese fighters also make the cut including Akihiro Fujisawa, Kimihiro Eto and Ryuto Sawada.

ONE Championship atomweight Muay Thai and kickboxing champion Stamp Fairtex cut her teeth in the ONE Warrior Series.

Over the next 12 months the series will visit South Korea, United States, Brazil and India. The show will continue to host its events in Singapore.
