ROAD Fighting Championship has announced some of the lineup of ROAD FC XX coming up on 11 March at the Grand Hilton Convention Center in Seoul. This all-women’s league will kick off as part of ROAD FC 37.
The first rematch will pit “Schoolgirl Fighter” Ye-Ji Lee (2-2 MMA, 2-2 RFC) against “Princess” Satoko Shinashi (35-2-2 MMA, 1-0 RFC) in a catchweight bout.
Shinashi, the former Smackgirl and DEEP women’s flyweight champ, is a dangerous grappler with precision leglocks and armbars. She recently returned to MMA in 2014 after retiring from the sport and has not lost, finishing all six of her opponents.
The 17 year-old Lee has a background in kickboxing and judo. She has not taken the easy road in that she has fought some veterans of the sport, Shinashi and Hisae Watanabe, and given them a run for their money. After losing her first two fights, she faced some competition similar in experience and showed sparks of potential. Defeating Hana Date and finishing Natsuki Shimomakise via armbar has proven that she is ready for the rematch.
The second rematch will be contested in the flyweight division with Raika Emiko (3-4 MMA, RFC Debut) taking on Jin-Hee Kang (0-2 MMA, RFC Debut).
These two had their first altercation at DEEP JEWELS 14 back in late 2016. While Kang was making her debut as a professional, Emiko had already faced the likes of Rin Nakai, Brogan Walker and Jessica Rose-Clark. The experience paid off for the Japanese boxing champion in that she went on to win via unanimous decision.
In addition to these matchups, “Wushu Queen” So-Hee Lim (0-1 MMA, 0-1 RFC) will collide with Hana Date (2-3 MMA, 0-1 RFC) in an atomweight contest and Sanda champ Hae-In Kim (0-1 MMA, 0-1 RFC) faces national Muay Thai champion Yoo-Ree Shim (Pro Debut) in the strawweight division.
So far, the most intriguing aspect of this new league is the full spectrum of martial arts that will be on display when these brave individuals step into the cage.
