M-1 Challenge takes place for the first time in China in Beijing on November 11, 2014. Former Legend FC Bantamweight Champion Yao Honggang has been added to the card.
Yao is one of China’s most well-known fighters as he’s appeared in many regional promotions and garnered a grappling prowess legend about him. “The Master” once owned the Legend FC Bantamweight belt, then subsequently gave it up to the now UFC-signed Jumabieke Tuerxun.
Yao will meet Nikita Chistyakov, as first announced on Chinese site Wuzhenet. Chistayakov is an impressive young striker on the M-1 roster.
“Battle in the Celestial Empire” – as it has been dubbed – will be the first card of a ten-year deal for M-1 to produce events in China. Six fights are set for the card, which leaves more than a few spots open for more Chinese or China-based athletes to be added.
Russian paratrooper Sergei Kharitonov and Olympic judo gold medalist Satoshi Ishii will meet in the main event.
