Mighty Mouse lined up for ONE’s Japanese debut

ONE Championship is wasting no time putting its newly signed UFC stars to work. The promotion has announced both Eddie Alvarez and Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson will make their promotional debuts at ONE: A New Era on 31 March at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.

First up for “The Underground King” is Timofey Nastyukhin, a top lightweight contender who has faced the toughest of ONE’s lightweight division.

The Tiger Muay Thai trained Nastyukhin (12-4) has eight bouts with ONE, having faced and defeated former champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, Rob Lisita, Koji Ando and Amir Khan.

Nastyukhin is coming off a recent loss to Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev at ONE: Conquest of Heroes in Jakarta.

Mighty Mouse gets Little Piranha

Meanwhile “Mighty Mouse” has been booked to face former Pancrase fighter Yuya Wakamatsu (10-3), who made an unsuccessful ONE debut against Danny Kingad at ONE: Conquest of Heroes in Jakarta in September.

From 2015 to 2017 “Little Piranha” went on an undefeated run with Pancrase, but of late has been unable to find form. This year he dropped two of his three bouts and should provide little resistance to Johnson, arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter the sport of MMA has produced.
