Bellator 135 took place on March 27, 2015 in Oklahoma, USA. Hideo Tokoro made his Bellator debut a memorable one against LC Davis, although he succumbed to a split decision loss.
In a performance that shifted back the sands of time, Hideo Tokoro displayed the best of his speed and aggression that has won him fans for years in Japan. Tokoro and Davis went at each other with such fierce energy that it’s amazing the fight went to the final gong.
Tokoro opened the fight with a flying jump kick to signal what was in store. Davis responded with nice combinations and a clinch they both did work in and out of. Tokoro scored the first takedown of the night. Davis scrambled up and rocked Tokoro which seemed like he hit the “on” button, and flurries ensued, with Tokoro’s spinning back fist and straight right sending Davis down and almost out. Davis recovered and made a successful double leg, but it didn’t keep Tokoro down for long, and the clinched until the first gong.
Tokoro tried to open the second round as the first but Davis was wise to it and dropped him with a right. Davis followed him down to finish it, but Tokoro quickly recovered and got back to his feet. Davis worked Tokoro against the cage and shot on him, but Tokoro was able to turn ti into a heel hook attempt that forced Davis to fight his way out. He repaid Tokoro by keeping him against the cage to the bell.
The third round began with reckless aggression and Tokoro got the knockdown. He tried to finish it with submissions on the ground but Davis was able to slip free. He tried to rush back in while Tokoro was still on his back but a massive up kick from Tokoro snapped his head back, and the ref stopped it with an illegal up kick warning, which it wasn’t by a split second. Davis rocked Tokoro with punches and Tokoro returned the favor with a head kick. Davis clinched to recover and that time Tokoro decided to try for a takedown, and a beautiful scramble ensued. Tokoro hunted for the arm bar fiercely, but once out, Davis ended the round with a guillotine attempt.
