In front of some 60,000 people, Israel Adesanya has unified the UFC middleweight title with a decisive victory over reigning champion Robert Whittaker.
The champ started strong, landing solid leg kicks and charged forward with some huge, swinging strikes. Whittaker looked to be the busier man and was throwing with intensity. Adesanya could not have been more different, picking his shots and playing it smart.
Just second before the first round finished, Adesanya dropped Whittaker with a huge left hook, but the champ was saved from any further damage by the bell.

As the second round kicked in, Adesanya showed why is here. The New Zealander was fighting smart, was lighter on his feet and able to land dangerous shots.
The end came at 3:33 of round two. Adesanya dropped the champ and etched himself into the history books with a huge win over Robert Whittaker.
Less than two years into his UFC career, Adesanya moves to 18-0 and has unified the middleweight title. Whittaker’s winning streak that goes back to 2014 has come to a dramatic end.
