King Reina’s reign over women’s MMA in Japan starts now

King Reina: A rising star in women’s MMA.

Do you knowKing Reina?

She arrived on the Japanese MMA scene two years ago at DEEP JEWELS 10 at the ripe old ago of 18.

She won by arm-bar with her Judo, Sambo and Jiu-Jitsu (purple belt) skills.

After that she continued to win over Japanese fighter Elly and former UFC fighter Shayna Baszler. Finally King Reina fought and won over huge opponent Jazzy Gabert at RIZIN Yokohama and it was her first major debut.

On every fight, Reina Miura didn’t hesitate to throw punches and kicks at all and not being hesitancy on every fight is one of her attractiveness.

At DEEP Jewels 16 she did the same, despite facing a much taller opponent in Europe Karate champ Kristin Handel. But Reina reigned supreme yet again. She threw punches and kicks, got the takedown and pounded her out at within the opening round.

Satomi “Sarami” Takano and Tomo Maesawa also faced off. They have same Judo background shared similar stories of leaving their hometown for the bright lights and somewhat better training conditions in Tokyo.

On the last JEWELS event, Maesawa won over the skilled Tomimatsu by choke-sleeper and she could show her advance.

Sarami also subbed Korean Ye Jin Jung with choke-sleeper. So it was difficult to say which is stronger before this fight.

On the fight Sarami threw strong punches and got takedowns. During the second round she finished the fight.

After her winning Sarami said she would like the challenge the championship fight with Mina Kurobe.

The first fight of DEEP Jewels 16 saw the 12-year-old fighter from Hakushin-kai Momo Shimizu take on 24-year-old fighter Momoko Yamazaki.

Hakushin-kai is famous for the gym DEEP JEWELS champion and Invicta fighter Mizuki and her younger brother Naoki Inoue belong to. During the fight Momo got takedowns, secured an early rear-naked choke and her opponent Yamazaki was stunned.

Momo started Karate at just three years of age and has over 100 fights under kickboxing, karate, Jiu Jitsu and MMA. Awesome.
