Michelle Nicolini has delivered Angela Lee her second professional defeat.
In the co-main event of ONE: Masters of Destiny, the Brazilian fighter secured a big win after three gruelling rounds, likely ending Lee’s campaign at strawweight.
For the first two rounds, Nicolini was able to execute her game plan almost to perfection. She kept Lee on the ground and looked dangerous as she hunted for submission attempts and dropped the odd bomb from full mount.
The third round, however, was all Lee, who took control on her feet and was effective on the ground, but it was not enough. All three judges gave the decision to Nicolini.
The win should put the Brazilian in contention for a shot at the strawweight belt.
Lee’s loss makes it back-to-back defeats after being stopped by Xiong Jing Nan in their strawweight title clash in Tokyo in March.
Lee’s record drops to 9-2 as she heads into her rematch with Xiong Jing Nan in October, where she will defend her atomweight title.
