Shinya Aoki chokes Ev Ting at One Championship: Kingdom of Heroes

On 6 October, ONE Championship hosted a night of MMA, Muay Thai, kickboxing and boxing in Bangkok, Thailand.

There were six MMA fights on the card, and the main event was a boxing match in which Srisaket Sor Rungvisai kept his WBC super flyweight belt by defeating Iran Diaz by unanimous decision.

The final MMA match, Shinya Aoki versus Ev Ting, isn’t a long story to tell. Aoki shot, got the takedown, climbed over Ting’s legs, and jumped into an arm triangle that put Ting to sleep in seconds. Aoki earns the right to be the next challenger for the lightweight title.

One BKK Muin Gafurov

Leandro Issa and Muin Gafurov came at each other with bad intentions. Issa got the first takedown, and Gafurov got a revenge toss from underhooks. It was all over at the halfway mark when Gafurov threw a left that landed, and then a huge right that spun Issa to the canvas chin first for the KO.

Hayato Suzuki knew exactly his kind of game would work on Robin Catalan, and he kept to his plan. The wrestler took the wushu kicker down repeatedly and mashed him around on the ground. In the second round, Suzuki took advantage of an escape attempt and slipped to the back of Catalan, quickly sinking in a choke for the tap.

Bozhena Antoniyar came out with a fantastic swarm of punches that had Rika Ishige covering up. Ishige made it to the clinch, smartly went for the take down, and was able to pay back Antoniyar with punches and elbows from back mount. The referee had enough and Ishige got back into the win column with a first round stoppage.

Changxin Fu and Rin Saroth went back and forth in the first round, with Saroth landing kicks and Fu landing takedowns. Tharoth seemed to handle himself well off his back in the first, but in the second he was out of his depth. Fu easily mounted, took the back and choked him to a tap.

To open up the event, Ramon Gonzales advanced his record into the positive by choking out Dodi Mardian in the first round.
