Full Metal Dojo 16 kicked off live on Fox Sports Asia’s Facebook page for the inaugural event of the new ASEAN-based series, Kumite 3000.

Thailand female prospect Suwanan Boonsorn put herself on the map in a big way with an armbar finish of Invicta fighter Loma Lookboonmee.

As the event started, FMD promoter and cage announcer Jon Nutt made his showman’s entrance to rev up the crowd, who were sitting within blood spatter distance from the cage.

Opening the night, large and muscled Ukrainian Stan Tskitishvili made an impression in his amateur debut by pummeling very experienced amateur, but very chubby Malaysian, Azreel Izzat with a quick TKO.

Then there were three Kumite 3000 bouts to herald in the new nation versus nation format.

Myanmar’s O Kay Gyi mounted and pounded out Thailand’s Visarut Numnoi. Cambodia’s Long La’s fist punch knocked down Thailand’s and finished him within seconds. Myanmar’s Aung Kyaw Kyaw kicked and punched, and after only one month of BJJ tried to grapple, but ultimately it was the cardio of Thailand’s Jaktan Tangjan which stopped the fight.

Vinod Grewal stepped in on five days notice to make his pro MMA debut against Javier Trujillo and he made a true game of it. Trujillo used violence and kept coming to get a rear naked choke tap from fellow purple belt Grewal.

In the co-main event women’s atomweight championship, Suwanan Boonsorn did an amazing job of upsetting a massive prospect in Loma Lookboonmee. The two talents traded very technical combinations and sought the ground early. Boonsorn took the upper hand by taking the back and did a belly up armbar for a great finish.

In the first round of the main event middleweight championship, Glenn Sparv had a difficult time against the lesser experienced wrestler Mehdi Bagheri. However, Sparv was able to capitalize in the second in a big way. Bagheri got a big double leg, but Sparv threw down elbows, allowed Bagheri to attempt a cage walk, then kneed him to oblivion for an excellent finish of the night.
