Top Malaysian welterweight Agilan Thani will have the task of welcoming UFC veteran Yoshihiro Akiyama (14-6) to the ONE Championship cage.

The welterweight scrap, announced during the broadcast of ONE: Enter the Dragon, will go down in Shanghai on 15 June as part of the ONE: Legendary Quest event.

It’s been quite some time since we saw “Sexyama” in action. His last fight happened back in November 2015 at UFC Fight Night 79, where he lost a split decision to Alberto Mina.

Akiyama’s only win since 2010 has been against Amir Sadollah.

Malaysia’s Thani was on a 12-fight win streak when he famously trolled Ben Askren for a shot at ONE’s welterweight title in 2017.

The fight took place in Singapore as part of the mega Dynasty of Heroes card, where officials from the Malaysian sports authority organised dozens of buses to transport fans from Malaysia across the border to Singapore.

It was a valiant effort, but Thani ended up losing via arm triangle early in the first round.

“The Aligator” is coming off a tough 2018, where he faced the now welterweight champion Zebaztian Kadestam and dropped another loss to Kiamrian Abbasov.

In the main event of ONE: Legendary Quest, top female strikers will collide when Stamp Fairtex defends her atomweight Muay Thai title against WBC Muay Thai champion Alma Juniku.
