ONE has confirmed Team Lakay’s Joshua Pacio will get a second shot at reigning strawweight king Yoshitaka Naito when the promotion returns to Jakarta on Saturday, 22 September for ONE: Conquest of Heroes.
Naito (13-1) got his first win over the 22-year-old Pacio in Yangon in 2016, securing a rear-naked choke in the third round to retain his strawweight title. Since that loss, Pacio and has gone 4-1 with ONE Championship, locking down wins over former champions Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke and Alex Silva.
After defending his title against Pacio, Naito returned to action in December 2017 only to drop his title to Brazilian grappler Alex Silva in Bangkok. Naito then won his title back in a rematch and will no doubt be eager to secure his grip over the strawweight division.
Also set for ONE: Conquest of Heroes is 23-year-old Yuya Wakamatsu, a mixed martial artist from Kagoshima in Japan. Wakamatsu (10-2) is an aggressive knockout artist with devastating power. With nine of his 10 victories coming by way of knockout, Wakamatsu will make his promotional debut against Danny “The King” Kingad.
After dropping a decision to Geje Eustaquio in January, former flyweight champion Kairat Akhmetov (21-2) returns to meet “The Southern Eagle” Ma Hao Bin in a bantamweight bout.
Former SEA Games Wushu Bronze Medalist Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol has also been lined up to face undefeated Filipino talent Jomary Torres, while former IBC Featherweight Championship Victorio Senduk will square off against the veteran and WKF Indonesia Champion “The Terminator” Sunoto.
