The Panda, Xiong Jing Nan returns for her third appearance – and second title defence of 2018 – to face Brazilian fighter Samara Santos at ONE: Beyond the Horizon in Shanghai on 8 September.

This will be Santos’ promotional debut with ONE and arguably the biggest fight of the Brazilian’s lacklustre career. It’s important to give credit where credit is due. Santos will be jumping in with both feet when she takes on the hometown favourite, Xiong Jing Nan in the main event of this start-studded card.

As a profession, Santos has amassed a 12-5-1 record over the past three years, including six wins by submission. She recently broke a three fight losing streak when she defeated Rosiele Pereira de Almeida at a local promotion earlier this year.

On the other hand, Xiong Jing Nan is on a seven fight winning streak with four of those victories coming via brutal TKO finishes. It would be in the best interest of Santos to get this fight to the ground as soon as possible.

Regardless, Santos will have her hands full.  Xiong has competed prior in both boxing and kickboxing in addition to winning at the prestigious China Open Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament in 2017.

Xiong is the heavy favourite going into this fight, but there is aways a chance for Santos.
