Anton Tabuena of BloodyElbow.com broke what could be a total of three Championship contests for Legend FC 10 to be held in Hong Kong on August 24, 2012. Welterweight Champion Bae Myoung Ho is said to make his second title defense, attempting to further his 5-win streak and unblemished record with the promotion. He will be facing Wang Sai, a very strong opponent who has been bulking up recently, attested to the fact that he missed weight by 2.5 kgs in tonight’s HEAT versus AWA main event in Shandong, China. Wang has finished two of his three opponents in Legend FC handily, with his only loss coming via decision after a 3-round war with Alex Niu.
Yusuke Kawanago is said to make his first title defense of the Featherweight strap against Rob Lisita. Kawanago won the belt by defeating excellent grappler Ji Xian with a guillotine choke. Incidentally, Ji is fighting on the same card with Wang Sai tonight. Rob Lisita’s introduction to the Legend ring saw him battle out a hard-fought three rounds against Yeong Gwang Choi, winning by unanimous decision. His cardio seemed to be an issue, but he assured us after the event that it was a combination of factors, including a drastic weight cut.
An inaugural contest for the Middleweight Championship is said will be contested by Yang Hae Jun and Liu Wenbo, two powerful strikers that could go in any direction from a first round KO to a three round bloody war. Yang has a mixed record in Legend, and recently fought Legend FC commentator Vaughn Anderson in a three round cautious battle in Australia’s Valor promotion. Conversely, Liu was a commentator for Legend FC 9, and has a very unpredictable record as well.
The final bout mentioned was a contest between undefeated Chris Lokteff of dominant Integrated MMA in Australia against Brandon Ropati out of New Zealand who also has a clean as a whistle record. Chris is set to have a bout prior to his Legend debut in Australia’s WR 14.
Confirmed on 7/27 by the promotion:
Bae Myoung Ho versus Wang Sai, Welterweight title defence
Yusuke Kawanago versus Rob Lisita, Bantamweight title defence
Yang Hae Jun versus Liu WenBo, Inagural Middleweight title
Chris Lokteff versus Brandon Ropati
