Who can stop Garry Tonon?
The American grappling ace kept his unbeaten MMA record intact on Friday night with a swift victory over Japan’s Yoshiki Nakahara.
On the preliminary card of ONE: Enter the Dragon, “The Lion Killer” defeated the dangerous Nakahara with a first round heel hook submission.
Nakahara was expected to be Tonon’s toughest test to date, but the Japanese veteran tapped within the first minute of the opening round.
Tonon had plenty to say in his post-fight interview.
“I’ve just got one to say, Garry Tonon is no longer a prospect in the sport of mixed martial arts,” he told Mitch Chilson.
“This is a resurrection. We’re bringing grappling back from the dead and to the forefront of mixed martial arts. Yeah.”
The New Yorker is now 5-0 in ONE’s featherweight division and said he is now looking towards big things.
“I’ll be looking for that title sometime soon.”
With a big win over Yoshiki Nakahara you would expect a shot at the tile in the not too distant future.
