Laura Balin replaces Meng Bo, faces Mei Yamaguchi in Singapore

Mei Yamaguchi will be looking for her third straight win in Singapore.

ONE Championship atomweight contender Mei Yamaguchi has a new opponent at ONE: Enter the Dragon in Singapore this Friday.

The Tokyo native was scheduled to face Meng Bo at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, but an injury forced the Chinese debutant to withdraw.

Stepping in her place will be Laura Balin, who makes her atomweight debut.

Balin challenged ONE strawweight champion Xiong Jing Nan for the crown in her promotional debut last June.

She pushed The Panda to all five championship rounds, but fell in her quest to claim gold.

Now, “La Gladiadora” moves down to the atomweight division to face Yamaguchi.

Yamaguchi is riding a two-bout win streak and submitted Kseniya Lachkova at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in March.

Should “V.V.” get past Balin, ONE is already hinting that a third shot at Angela Lee’s atomweight title is on the cards. If the South American can upset the established veteran, the division may have a new contender.
