Ten fights green lit for ONE FC 18, the promotion’s first event in Taipei, Taiwan

ONE FC 18 – War of Dragons will be the promotion’s first outing in Taipei, Taiwan on July 11, 2014. Fan favorite Eric Kelly and finishing artist Rob Lisita top the card.

According to journalist James Goyder on the scene:

“Everyone made weight at the first attempt ahead of ONE FC: War of Dragons except Rayner Kinsiong who was over by 0.7. Zhang Zheng Jie is off the card after failing a medical and has been replaced by Taiwan based American Eliot Corley.”

URCC Featherweight Champ Kelly has been conspicuous in his absence since his last ONE FC outing which was for the inaugural Featherweight Championship in a war with Kevin Belingon, then he came back in fashion with a submission win in his home promotion of the URCC. Lisita has been on a tear with four finishes in a row, most recently avenging his Legend FC title contention loss to Yusuke Kawanago in spectacular fashion. This one will not go the distance.

Another Legend FC Champion who joined the ONE FC ranks, Lightweight belt holder Koji Ando, will face undefeated Rafael Nunes. Ando left Japan to fight in ROAD FC and then Legend, where his only loss was a toughly fought split decision to now RUFF Champ Wang Guan while on his way to take the lightweight strap from Jadamba Narantungalag. Nunes is a Brazilian Jiu Jiitsu brown belt stand out. He holds finishing wins over WOCS contender Fabiano de Melo and warhorse Udi Lima on the Brazilian circuit. Let’s see what this young prodigy can do against a black belt judoka.

Massively talented grappler Yusup Saadulaev is back to face former ONE FC title challenger Koetsu Okazaki. Saadulaev has put on amazing performances in each of his ONE FC appearances. Both guys can go the distance. Saadulaev has the tools to finish, and Okazaki has the defense. The man with the better strategy will win this fight.

Big men show up on the card as Taiwanese Paul Cheng gets to fight in his native country against Mahmoud Hassan. Plus, wrestling sensation Jake Butler takes on very tough Cage Warriors fighter Mohamed Ali. Also giants Chi Lewis Parry and Alain Ngalani will get back in the cage to finish what they started before an accidental groin shot.

Three more Taiwanese fighters grace the card as Ming Yen Sung takes on Singapore’s Nick Lee, Zhang Zheng Jie faces Rayner Kinsiong, and Jeff Huang meets kick boxer Bala Shetty.
