ONE FC 25 Flyweight title Adriano Moraes vs Asuka Mikami

ONE FC 25 takes place on March 13, 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia headlined by Adriano Moraes’ Flyweight title defense against Asuka “Shibuya Rick” Mikami.

The Flyweight Championship

Moraes is arguably the number one flyweight fighting in Asia right now. He’s riding a three-fight win streak going into his first title defense, which he won in the inaugural ONE FC contest by choking out Geje Eustaquio. It was his third choke in a row. Moraes’ fiery assault on on the division was catalyzed by a split decision loss to Yusup Saadulaev at ONE FC 12 in 2013. That fight was a barn burner and hinted of what Moraes was capable of. The next three results proved it.

Mikami comes into the challenge riding a three-fight win streak himself. He was a RINGS The Outsider staple for 5 years before being pushed into transitioning to the bigger Japan events of HEAT and Ryo Chonan’s TTF Challenge. Mikami’s win over Pancrase ranker Yasutaka Koga put him in the spotlight, and transitioning to HEARTS should have improved his grappling, but probably has done little to temper his aggressive do-or-die style.

Moraes slaughtered his way to get the belt and he’s rightfully sitting on top of many worthy skulls right now. Mikami will need to climb that mountain of bodies just to reach the champ. Once he gets there, he’ll need every weapon in his arsenal just to stay in the battle.

The Malaysian Superfights

ONE FC has secured a Malaysia tertiary broadcast deal with TV9 Di Hatiku and two bouts featuring Malaysian MMA stars will be aired live following the title bout, as well as on the PPV stream. Peter Davis takes on Rajinder Singh Meena and Ann Osman meets Walaa Abbas.

Peter Davis has been a staple of ONE FC since the promotion’s second event, and an MMA fighter for 10 years. His recent run has been an impressive three finishes, the latest of which over Vaughn Donayre was a performance that showed how much he’s developed in his game. His opponent is former SFL Lightweight Champ Rajinder Meena.

Ann Osman has been a hot ticket and media darling for ONE FC. Her three fights have been dominant showings, including a win over boxing champ Ana Julaton. Osman’s opponent is Egypt’s Walaa Abbas, who’s prior ONE FC bout was a decision loss to Julaton.

The Main Card

Ev Ting looks to keep his unbeaten record in ONE FC intact against Carry Bullos, who need to rebound from a lightning quick choke by Major Overall.

Thanh Vu is looking for new life at flyweight, but impressive youngster Gianni Subba stands in his way.

As the night’s opening fight, MIMMA amateur Welterweight Champ Agilan Thangalapani makes his professional debut alongside Singapore’s Reant Febriza Rainir.
