Reigning strawweight King of Pancrase Mitsuhisa Sunabe will return for the first time this year to defend his belt at Pancrase 307.
Sunabe (29-8-4) claimed the strawweight title at Pancrase 271, after he defeated Hiroyuki Abe via split decision.
The Japanese veteran has gone on to defend the belt twice and will now face challenger Daichi Kitakata (19-8-1) at Studio Coast on 21 July.
This won’t be the first time both men have met inside the Pancrase cage. They first danced at Pancrase 283, where Sunabe won via a rear-naked choke early in the second round.
Since his loss to Sunabe, Kitakata has gone on to rack-up four straight wins with the Japanese promotion.
This will be the second title on the line at Pancrase 307. The event’s headline act will see newly-crowned bantamweight champion Rafael Silva defend his belt against Yuto Hokamura.
