PXC 42 features Kim versus Misech for the Featherweight Championship

Pacific Xtreme Combat 42 takes place February 28th, 2014 at the University of Guam Fieldhouse on Guam and will feature the Featherweight Championship defense by South Korea’s Jangyong “The Beast” Kim against one of Hawaii’s top prospects Toby “2 Quick” Misech.

In the co-main feature of the night, two lightweight fighters will try to step closer into the title picture as one of Japan’s toughest lightweights “K-Taro” Keita Nakamura lock horns with Guam’s hometown hero Frank “The Crank” Camacho in a match that could get both KOFTN and FOTN honors.

Another Guam versus Japan match is going down come fight night as two young and talented featherweights looks to start this year with a win as Guam’s Kyle Reyes, who is coming off a flying knee K.O. over Taekyun Kim, meets decorated 23-year-old Shooto Lightweight Pac Rim Champion Yusuke Yachi in a fight that will likely determine the next contender for the PXC Featherweight strap.

If you think only the boys can scrap, you are wrong. PXC 42 also features a women’s MMA fight between undefeated Kailin Curran and PXC newcomer Yujin Joong from Korean Top Team. After piling up 4-1-1 record in her amateur days, Hawaii’s Curran made her pro debut last March of 2013 at PXC 36 against Kaiyana Rain and won by Unanimous Decision. After her convincing performance, she went on to face much more experienced Japanese fighter Emi Tomimatsu at PXC 38. Again Curran displayed her overall MMA skill to achieve a hard-earned UD win. Jung on the other hand is a PXC newcomer and will make her first pro fight against Curran. This is a huge step up in competition for the 20-year-old who will need all her skills honed to face her opponent.

PXC 42 also features a bantamweight match up between Trevin Jones and Ricky Camp. Both men are coming off a loss and will be motivated to get themselves back on the winning track. Jones is a pretty massive bantamweight fighter who is coming off a second-round submission at the hands of Alvin Cacdac. He has a notable wins over Kyle Aguon, Josh Duenas, and Troy Bantiag. Camp, who is on a two-fight losing skid of his own to Jung Hoon Koh and Ian Dela Cuesta, previously piled up three straight wins including first-round finishes of John Paul Mendiola and Vince Pua.
