Former PXC featherweight title contender Toby “2 Quick” Misech will make his bantamweight debut on October 17th in Guam at PXC 45 against Trevin Jones.
The news was announced by Misech through his official Instagram account @toby2quick.
Misech was first seen inside the “Terror Dome” at PXC 36 in March of 2013 against South Korean fighter Sung Hwan Cho. He showed how skilled of a fighter he is by knocking out Cho in the third round.
Misech then took on one of the hottest featherweight prospects in Japan, Yusuke Yachi, in a much-anticipated title eliminator scrap at PXC 38. The two were very technical in the first round, respecting each other’s KO power and now throwing strikes. It was in the second round where Misech tagged Yachi with a cracking left straight which sent the Japanese to the canvas, scoring arguably the biggest win of his career.
The Hawaiian slugger then went on to challenge Jang Yong Kim for his title at PXC 42 in February. Kim showcased his grinding grappling skills against Misech, who struggled to defend the South Korean’s takedowns and transitions to the ground. Kim ended Misech’s title aspirations when he made him tap in the second round by way of a kimura.
Misech now is ready to make an impact in the PXC bantamweight division as he will make his 135 pound debut next month at PXC 45 against Guam’s Trevin Jones.
Jones, since making his pro debut in 2011, has been struggling to keep his momentum going. He is 4-3 and is coming off a split decision victory over Ricky Camp.
Jones is known for strength, smothering wrestling, and devastating ground and pound. He likes to throw elbows from the clinch position and is very good in controlling people on their back. He needs to spoil Misech’s bantamweight debut to put him back into the rankings.
PXC 45 will also feature a bantamweight championship fight between Rolando Dy and Kyle Aguon at the University of Guam Field House.
