Ayaka Hamasaki returns to face Thailand’s Suawanan Boonsorn at RIZIN 18

RIZIN continues to build out its RIZIN 18 card, set for the Dolphins Arena in Nagoya on 18 August.

New additions to the card include super atomweight champion Ayaka Hamasaki (18-2), who returns after a hard fought title defense to face tough Thai Suawanan Boonsorn (5-1) in a non-title fight.

Since winning Full Metal Dojo’s atomweight title in November last year, Boonsorn has found success with Deep Jewels, where she defeated Emi Sato at just 33 seconds into the opening round.

“Amp” who trains out of Phuket Top Team said she was ready for the challenge.

“I have absolutely no intention of losing and I plan to beat her and become a Thai legend in Thai women’s MMA,” she said.

Bantamweights clash

RIZIN continues to deepen its bantamweight roster with a two new international signings.

Justin Scoggins (11-6) looks to bounce back from him loss against former Shooto Pacific Rim champion Kazuma Sone (23-18-1), while Victor Henry (18-4), who recently claimed the DEEP bantamweight title, will make his RIZIN debut against 21-year-old Australian MMA and Kickboxing sensation Trent Girdham (11-2).


Jarod Brooks (14-2) returns to action after 11 months in his weight class against current DEEP strawweight champion Haruo Ochi (19-7-2).

The main event of RIZIN 18 sees Kyoji Horiguchi take on rising star Kai Asakura in what will also be a non-title affair.

Next up for the promotion is RIZIN 17, which goes down this weekend at the Saitama Super Arena.
