Just five days out from RIZIN 19 in Osaka, Rena Kubota has a new opponent.

Kubota’s original opponent Shawna Ram suffered a concussion in training and has withdrawn from the event, according to RIZIN president Nobuyuki Sakakibara.

Ram will be replaced by Alexandra Alvare, who brings a 0-3 record with all defeats coming via knockout.

Kubota (8-3) kickstarted her MMA career with six back-to-back wins, before her first defeat at the hands of Kanna Asakura at the 2017 RIZIN World Grand Prix.

She lost her second fight with Asakura at RIZIN 11 and was recently defeated by Lindsey VanZandt in a crossover bout at Bellator 222.

RIZIN 19 takes place at the Edion Arena in Osaka this Sunday (12 Oct.), where light heavyweight champ Jiri Prochazka (24-3-1) meets Fabio Maldonado in a non-title 100kg bout.

After defeating Kyoji Horiguchi at RIZIN 18, Kai Asakura (13-1) returns to take on former UFC veteran and crafty grappler Ulka Sasaki (22-7).

The event will also feature the opening bouts of RIZIN’s Lightweight Grand Prix, plus super atomweight contenders Ham Seo-Hee Ham (21-8) vs. Miyuu Yamamoto (5-3).
