RIZIN has confirmed the opening round matchups for its Lightweight Grand Prix, set for RIZIN 19 on 12 October.
Eight participants were announced last week and all four fights were confirmed in Tokyo Friday.
The four bouts include:
Tofiq Musaev vs Damien Brown
Johnny Case vs Roberto de Souza
Patricky Freire vs Tatsuya Kawajiri
Luiz Gustavo vs Hiroto Uesako
Bellator contender Patricky “Pitbull” Freire will face Japanese veteran Tatsuya Kawajiri, who got himself back into the win column last July, with a win over Ali Abdulkhalikov.
What is sure to be a highlight of the tournament is Damien Brown (19-12) who meets rising Azerbaijan contender Tofiq Musayev (15-3). Musayev is currently riding an impressive 11-fight win streak, his last being a win over Daron Cruickshank in June.
The event is set for the Edion Arena in Osaka and will feature a 100kg super fight as light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazkha takes on Brazilian knockout artist Fabio Maldonado.
The organisation will also look to establish its welterweight division, with the addition of former UFC welterweight Keita Nakamura. He makes his debut against Marcos de Souza.
Last week RIZIN confirmed Ham Seo-Hee will meet atomweight contender Miyuu Yamamoto at RIZIN 19.
Ham made a big statement in her RIZIN debut earlier this year, with a blistering first round TKO over DEEP Jewels champion Tomo Maesawa.
RIZIN 19 now stands with eight solid fights.
RIZIN 19 also includes:
Jiri Prochazka vs Fabio Maldonado
Ham Seo-Hee vs Miyuu Yamamoto
Marcos de Souza vs Keita Nakamura
Rena Kubota vs Shawna Ram
