RIZIN has announced the round of fights for RIZIN 17, which takes place at the Saitama Super Arena on 28 July.

With a Lightweight Grand Prix rumored to take place later this year, a potential qualifying bout between Mikuru Asakura and Yusuke Yachi has been lined up.

Yachi will be hunting for a much needed win, having lost his last two outings with RIZIN in 2018. His opponent Asakura has been on a tear for the past 12 months, having fought and won all of his five bouts.

RIZIN’s bantamweight division just got a lot more interesting, with the addition of former Pancrase champion Shintaro Ishiwatari, who meets former Shooto and UFC grapping ace Ulka Sasaki. Sasaki returns after having his last bout with Kai Asakura cancelled.

Another bantamweight bout sees former DEEP champion Yuki Motoya face TUF 24 runner-up and current Shooto champion Hiromasa Ogikubo.

Both fights will add diversity to the growing RIZIN bantamweight division and expect to see Kyoji Horiguchi, Manel Kape, Kai Asakura, Ben Nguyen, Justin Scoggins in the mix.

Also announced during RIZIN 16 was an initial bout for RIZIN 18 as Marcos De Yoshio Souza has been confirmed on the RIZIN 18 card held at the Dolphins Arena on Sunday, 18 August.

RIZIN 17 confirmed fights:

Yusuke Yachi vs Mikuru Asakura
Yuki Motoya vs Hiromasa Ogikubo
Shintaro Ishiwatari vs Ulka Sasaki
