Conor McGregor returns to the Octagon this weekend to face Donald Cerrone in the main event of UFC 246 and the former two division champion has a new fire in his belly.

“It’s damn good to be back,” McGregor said during the UFC 246 press conference in Las Vegas earlier today.

“I’m eager to perform, I’m in a good spot. It’s going to be a good year for the UFC and McGregor Sport & Entertainment.”

Much has been made about McGregor’s return for what he’s calling his “2020 Season” with plans to remain active in the months ahead. Weather that be MMA or boxing is still anyone’s guess.

Today’s press conference was a much tamer affair than what we’ve come to expect from McGregor. Instead of trading barbs, both men heaped praise on each other, with the Notorious Irishman even complementing Cerrone python jacket.

“It’s hard not to respect Donald,” McGregor said. “Although there will be blood spilled on January 18, there will not be bad blood.”

Expect a War

As for Cerrone, he told fans to expect a war.

“I’m going five rounds with this guy and I can’t fucking wait. We’re going to blow the roof off this place.”

McGregor: “I can read Donald like a children’s book.”

Mystic Mac also had a prediction for how the fight would go.

“It will be a KO. I can read Donald like a children’s book. We are well prepared. I made this game what it is. I’m going to go in there and remind everyone.”

The welterweight fight is McGregor’s first since his title challenge at UFC 229. Cerrone is coming off three ‘Fight of the Night’ bouts in 2019.
