UFC and AirAsia have announced the opening of the applications process for this year’s AirAsia UFC Training Scholarship.

Launched last year with ONE Pride MMA’s strawweight champion Linda Darrow, round two of the initiative is open for applications.

Now in its second year, the scholarship will offer one aspiring MMA fighter from Asia an all-expenses-paid program at the UFC Performance Institute in Shanghai.

The four-week program will give the winner the opportunity to train under the tutelage of the UFC Performance Institute team, led by UFC Hall-of-Famer Forrest Griffin.

“Our primary objective for the UFC Performance Institute Shanghai is to accelerate the development of mixed martial arts in the region,” said UFC senior VP APAC, Kevin Chang.

Indonesian strawweight Linda Darrow was awarded the scholarship in 2018 and trained at UFC’s Performance Institute in Las Vegas.

AirAsia first struck a deal with UFC in November 2017, signing on as the promotion’s first-ever official airline sponsor.
