Just weeks after announcing her UFC signing, UFC has confirmed Thai MMA prospect Loma Lookboonmee will face Alexandra Albu at UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. Askren in Singapore on 26 October.
Come October, Loma will be the first Thailand-born and trained athlete to step inside the Octagon.
Born into a Muay Thai family, she first competed at eight and later became a multiple-time Muay Thai champion with over 200 bouts.
Loma went on to win nine titles, including the S-1 world title and Assawindam Stadium championship and was a member of the Thai national team, earning three IMFA gold medals.
Albu (7-1) has made the walk three times for the UFC, going 2-1 with the promotion over the past four years.
She will be looks to rebound from her first professional loss in February to Emily Whitmire.
Also officially announced for UFC Singapore is Chinese standout Yan “Fury” Xiaonan, who meets veteran Ashley Yoder. Yan (11-1) is one of the first female athletes from China to enter UFC.
Yan, a Chinese National Games Sanda bronze medalist, is undefeated in the UFC, with a record of 4-0.
She is set to meet Ashley “Spider Monkey” Yoder (7-4). Yoder got her start in UFC in 2016 with a tough three-fight losing streak. She has since turned around by winning her last two bout against Amada Cooper and Syuri Kondo.
The main event of UFC Singapore features two of the most talented grapplers to compete in the Octagon as welterweight contender and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Demian Maia (27-9) takes on no. 11-ranked former Olympic wrestler Ben Askren (19-1).
