The weigh-ins are done and dusted and everyone has been passed to fight on Saturday night’s UFC Fight Night 162 card at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
In the main event, former welterweight and middleweight title challenger Demian Maia (27-9) takes on former ONE Championship and Bellator king Ben Askren (19-1-0, 1NC).
Other main card attractions include a lightweight contest between American Michael “The Menace” Johnson (19-14) and Scotland’s Stevie “Braveheart” Ray (22-9) that looks certain to leave the winner in a good spot.
A great welterweight matchup sees Muslim “The King of Kung Fu” Salikhov (15-2) go up against Argentine Laureano “Pepi” Staropoli (9-1).
Loma Lookboonmee (3-1) makes her UFC debut in the strawweight division against Russian Aleksandra “Stitch” Albu (3-1). Both fighters have promise – and are potentially bankable stars, given the ever-growing Asian market and Albu selfie-friendly social media savvy.
The entire card will air on ESPN+, with the six-fight preliminary card beginning at 5:30pm local time. Check back with Asia MMA for results and commentary as it happens.
