URCC kicks off its new Global structure with five title fights, followed with plans for a 2019 Las Vegas event and an Asia tour.
On 29 September, URCC Colossal will take place at the Araneta Coliseum in Manila, Philippines. All fighters made weight successfully, so the full card is a go. There will be championship bouts in five divisions, and a heated lead up sees Mark Striegl back in action to challenge featherweight champ Lee Do-Gyeom in the main event.
Former light heavyweight contender Caloy Baduria and Panchito Estroso will fight for the heavyweight title. Women’s flyweight champion Geli Bulaong will defend her title against Seo Ji-Yeon. Former PXC flyweight challenger Ernesto Montilla Jr and former URCC flyweight challenger Jiar Castillo will fight for their division’s belts, which Derrick Easterling vacated when he retired. Finally, the welterweight title will be contested for by Alphonso Celso and former middleweight title challenger John Adajar.
At the press conference prior to the event, URCC Global’s new Chairman Arnold Vegafria spoke about the future expansion of the promotion. Vegafria is founder of the ALV Talent Circuit and head of sales and marketing of Manny Pacquiao’s MP Promotions He announced that a show in Las Vegas was planned for the first quarter of 2019. After that, there would be an Asia tour with more events in China, including Macau, and Japan.
