On November 16, 2013, in a small city northwest of Guangzhou, China, an MMA competition was held called “Fighting China”. The headline event was Jumabieke Tuerxun, the second Chinese fighter ever announced as signed by the UFC and then mysteriously removed from the roster, against a relatively unknown Japanese fighter who turns out to be 21- year old Yuki Nakahara, of MACH Dojo.

The Great Firewall of China may make it difficult for the insular MMA scene to break out into the international media, but it doesn’t mean the MMA in China is lacking. Fighting China was broadcast on tertiary television, and (we later learned) simultaneously streamed live. Here is (admittedly low quality tv-taped) footage of the main events of the past weekend’s fights.
