On November 21st, 2015 in Beijing, China, ONE Championship held Dynasty of Champions at the Gymnasium of National Olympic Sports Centre. Marat Gafurov and Kairat Akhmetov became champions and Yang Sen took the one-night Featherweight Tournament.

The night had viewers witnessing two titles exchange hands, a few exciting welterweight bouts and a 1-night Featherweight Tournament crowning a winner.

In the headlining spot, Russian grappling wiz Marat Gafurov (13-0) stunned the crowd by taking the 145lb title from then-champion Jadambaa (10-4) in a clash of styles.

Although Jadambaa dazzled on the feet with amazing strikes, Gafurov overwhelmed with precision wrestling and strikes from top position to wear down the Mongolian. Eventually late in the fourth round, Gafurov took the back and finished with a rear-naked choke.

The Russian unifies the title and becomes the undisputed featherweight king for ONE Championship.

However, the co-main event was a little more of a competitive match compared to the main attraction. The flyweight championship fight between Adriano Moraes (13-2) and Kairat Akhmetov (23-0) was a back and forth grappling affair.

“The Kazakh” was able to secure many takedowns and control from top position. Even though Moraes was winning in the striking department and attempting submissions, Akhmetov was in dominant spots for longer periods of time and that swayed the judges in his favor.

Kairat Akhmetov wins via split decision and takes the flyweight belt from Adriano Moraes. Don’t be surprised if they set up a rematch since it was such a narrow decision win.

Looking down on the rest of the main card, two welterweight bouts stand out.

Russian Nikolay Aleksakhin (17-3) dominated for most of the three rounds against Burenzorig Batmunkh (1-3) to submit him with a beautiful rear-naked choke at the end of the third.

Also, Jeff Huang (6-2) and Trestle Tan (3-5) had their rematch but with Huang coming out on top. In the first fight at PRO Fighting 10, Tan KO’d Huang in 9 seconds leaving much to be desired. This time around, Huang destroyed Tan with strikes leading to a TKO stoppage.

A rubber match looks to be on the horizon for these two welterweights to break the tie.

In the Featherweight Tournament, Yang Sen and Zhang Jai Cai made it to the finals by winning their semifinal bouts earlier in the night.

Yang defeated Ala Teng in a hard fought split decision and Zhang finished Qiao with a submission in the first round to advance.

In the final, Yang pressed forward and was able to land more on the feet. In addition, Zhang had no answer when the fight hit the mat and that led to the armlock victory for Yang in the beginning of the second round.

Yang Sen becomes the Featherweight Tournament winner.
