Over the weekend of November 8th and 9th, 2014, Yoddha FC held its first trials for an amateur MMA competition. The grassroots effort put on a total of thirteen fights for up and coming Indian prospects

Though India is one of the largest countries of the world, the MMA community is quite small, and has only been developing for the past few years. Evolution Combat Sports Academy in Mumbai has been active in the Brazilian jiujitsu competition scene and this has lead to many of its members to look to MMA.

It hasn’t been easy. Coaches are few and far between, and the coaches that do exist must seek resources to fund not only their competion teams but their own development as well, which can only happen outside of India. Fortunately interest and talent has slowly developed, and the Evolution team has been able to initiate grappling and now MMA competition regionally.

This past weekend, Yoddha FC 1 took place and thirteen amateur fights were held. The promotion recorded the bouts and will be putting the videos up on YouTube soon. For updates, follow Yoddha FC’s Facebook page here.
