After almost three years Jinh Yu Frey will get a second shot at her atomweight rival Ayaka Hamasaki.
Frey, the Invicta FC atomweight champion, will challenge Hamasaki for her super atomweight belt at RIZIN 16 on 2 June.
Hamasaki and Frey first met at Invicta FC 19, where the Japanese fighter won by doctor stoppage during the second round.
Since then both women have gone on to claim titles in their respective promotions.
Hamasaki defeated Kanna Asakura at RIZIN 14 to claim the vacant 105lbs title, while Frey defeated Minna Grusander at Invicta FC 33 to claim the belt.
“I have waited two and a half years for this opportunity,” Frey said during a press conference in Tokyo on Wednesday.
“It’s time to settle the score.”
Frey has since remained active around the world, challenging Seo-Hee Ham for the ROAD FC atomweight title in addition to her three wins under the Invicta FC banner.
RIZIN 16 takes place at Kobe World Memorial Hall in Kobe, Japan. Several other bouts were announced for the card including Kanna Asakura vs. Miyuu Yamamoto at atomweight; Roque Martinez vs. Jake Heun at heavyweight and Erson Yamamoto vs. Tim Eschtruth at bantamweight.
Rizin 16 will also feature kickboxing bouts, including the return of Tenshin Nasukawa.
