PANCRASE’s Bayside Fight announces bouts for the first event

PANCRASE has announced a partial card for the first installment of its cage series Bayside Fight in Yokohama. The event will spin off Pancrase ideals into a globally-accepted format of the USA’ Unified Rules and will begin the showcasing of amateur talent. The event will be at the Bayside Yokohama entertainment facility for two reasons: to be in an area where so many of Japan’s MMA teams are located, and to provide an MMA ‘lifestyle’ experience.

In a typical grappler-versus-striker match, Wrestle-Win’s Kenji Nakagi will face Redips’ Kenta Takagi. Neo-Blood MVP from 2012 Nagaki is a student of the Sydney Olympics Silver Medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling, Katsuhiko Nagata. Takagi is known for his elbows putting people in the hospital; he’s finished 7 out of his 8 wins by KO/TKO. While both fighters were in Cage Force, out of the two, Tagaki has more cage experience as he’s fought in DEEP’s cage as well.

Tatsuya So drops to Super Flyweight to take on Yuki Ueshima. So’s takedowns and Ueshima’s taedown reversing will likely see the match spend most of the time on the canvas. Neither fighter backs off and this will make for an exciting fight, especially if So proves the new class is more suitable for him.

Announced as the artist performing at the event is Mighty Crown, an international Reggae band based in Yokohama. Mighty Crown Entertainment’s band FireBall won the contest for producing Bayside Fight’s new theme song. Mighty Crown’s Masta Simon says the Pancrase “global” theme is in perfect resonance with with their own ideals: based in Yokohama where Bayside Fight will be, they act locally but think globally.
