Satoshi Ishii has claimed his first win with KSW, edging out Fernando Rodrigues Jr. via split decision at KSW 47 in Lodz, Poland on Saturday night.
The Olympic gold medalist and Bellator veteran used his superior grappling skills to grab hold of Fernando and work his way towards a split decision win. But it was in the second round where he took control of the fight, knocking the former champion to the canvas and extending his win streak to five.
With the win, Ishii improves his record to 21-8 and will no doubt have KSW matchmakers looking to fast-track a title shot for the Japanese veteran.
It’s been a busy start to the year for Ishii, who defended his Serbian Battle Championship heavyweight title in February, then claimed the Heat heavyweight title from Cally Gibrainn de Oliveira in early March.
KSW 47 took place at the Atlas Arena in Poland. The main event was a champion vs. champ affair, but Philip De Fries secured a dominant win over light heavyweight champion Tomasz Narkun to retain his heavyweight title.
