Choi Doo-Ho will have his next match against Sam Sicilia at UFC Fight Night 71 on July 15, 2015 in San Diego, California.
Choi confirmed the match to ASIA MMA. He was expected to face Sicilia one year earlier at UFC 173, but the bout was scrapped when Choi was injured.
Choi, “The Korean Superboy”, is widely heralded as the next big superstar to come to the UFC from South Korea. He has a 12-1 record with the sole loss being a split decision, and currently rides a six fight KO streak. His first fight in the UFC took place at UFC Fight Night 57 where he made a highlight reel-worthy KO of Juan Puig in just 18 seconds. AT just 24, he is still on the upswing in his career.
Sicilia is a veteran of UFC TUF Season 15. When his original match with Choi was off, he faced Aaron Phillips and won by decision. Next, he had two very surprising matches and outcomes in the time it’s taken Choi to get back with him: he was submitted by KO thriller Katsunori Kikuno, and bounced back to knock out Akira Corassani.
Headlining UFC FN 71 is a heavyweight match between Frank Mir and Todd Duffee.
