ROAD FC 17¬†will take place in Seoul, South Korea on August 17, 2014. Today the promotion released another bout on the card, Lee Yun-Jun versus Thiago Luis ‘Manchinha’ Bonifacio Silva. This follows yesterday’s announcement that Korean darling Song Ga-Yeon will finally make her MMA debut against Emi Yamamoto.

Lee gained widespread recognition as Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung’s protege in 2013 when he entered the ROAD FC Bantamweight Tournament. In one night of quarter- and semifinals, he defeated his first opponent but then was submitted quickly by eventual title contender Song Min-Jong (who then dropped a division and will face Jo Nam-Jin for the inaugural Flyweight Championship on ROAD FC 17). Since that defeat, Lee went on a tear, starting out with a masterful and brutal 3-rounder with now DEEP Bantamweight Champ Takafumi Otsuka, and ending most recently with a tactical performance against Japanese standout “CORO” Terashima.

Through this 4-win streak, Lee transitioned back to his home of Wonju and trained with ROAD FC owner Jung Moon-Hong’s Team Force, then moved on to the new Official ROAD FC Gym. Now he will face his second Brazilian black belt, Thiago (not THAT Thiago) Silva.

Silva debuted in ROAD FC in their Korea versus Brazil event, and earned one of the 2-1 wins over the home town that night. His performance was all heart with a BJJ star finish. Moon Jae-Hoon battered his face with punches and destroyed his legs with kicks, but Silva hung on to the third round and went “do or die” in a spectacular finish that earned him new fans.

Since then, Silva tuned up with a submission win in Brazil. This will be a definitive style-versus-style match.

Also announced, media sensation Song Ga-Yeon, kick boxer and round girl, will finally make her MMA debut on ROAD FC 17. She will meet another pretty face in Japanese debutant Emi Yamamoto, who has an amateur record and a background in kendo.
