Choi Doo-ho and Cub Swanson put on one of the best fights of 2016. Now The Korean Superboy wants to run it back.
At UFC 206, Swanson defeated Choi via unanimous decision, but set fans on fire with a performance that earned them “Fight of the Year” in 2016.
Following his unanimous decision win over Kron Gracie at UFC Tampa, Swanson said he’d be willing to face Choi again, given it was one of the most special moments of his career.
Choi has taken Instagram to put out the call for a rematch, but it can only happen in South Korea due to his military commitments.
“Swanson’s recent fight was amazing and he is a fighter that I have always respected,” Choi said in a post.
“I came across his recent interview that he believes that we need to have a rematch in which we owe to the fans. I also strongly feel the same but unfortunately I haven’t finished my military duties where it restricts me from flying overseas.
“If the UFC can organise a fight in Busan, I guarantee that it will be the craziest fight of 2019.”
Choi (14-3) hasn’t competed since his loss to Jeremy Stephens in January 2018. A fan favourite, The Korean Super boy has performance bonuses in four out of his five UFC fights.
The Korean Zombie and Brian Ortega are set to headline UFC Fight Night 165 in Busan on 21 December.
