Touted Amateur Prospect Benedict Ang Back in Action at Ultimate Beatdown 14.

Benedict Ang is undefeated in his amateur career but the Singaporean faces a step up at Ultimate Beatdown this Saturday night when he takes on a highly rated Malaysian opponent who recently won a reality TV show.

Ang brings a 3-0 amateur record into his match with Dinesh Jared Sundram who viewers of the Kix channel will be familiar with because he recently won a competition to be named Malaysia’s Toughest Man.

Sundram is 1-0 in amateur competition and trains out of the T-Rex Gym in Kuala Lumpur while Ang is a member of the Evolve MMA Fight Team and has been working with the likes of Eddie Ng and Leandro Issa in preparation for this fight.

Widely tipped to sign with ONE FC and make his pro debut later this year Ang says he hopes to showcase an improved skillset when he steps inside the Ultimate Beatdown cage for the second time,

“I was so excited to be invited to join the Evolve MMA Fight Team and to train alongside my favourite fighters like Eddie Ng and Shinya Aoki and under Muay Thai world champions like Namsaknoi Yudthagarngamtorn and Orono Wor Petchpun and I am looking forward to showing how much I have improved when I fight at Ultimate Beatdown 14,” he said.

The man overseeing the development of the 18 year old Singaporean is Heath Sims and believes Sundram represents a serious test for his student,

“Benedict was invited to join the fight team due to his potential and his attitude, he is a fast learner and a hard worker. It’s a big test for him against an opponent who already has professional experience but I am convinced Benedict has what it takes to be a top MMA fighter,” he said.

Singaporeans have had mixed results competing for ONE FC with the likes of Stephen Langdown and Kim Hock both tasting defeat, although Radeem Rahman scored an impressive recent win on his comeback.

Ang might well be the next Singaporean superstar to follow in the footsteps of Rahman by tasting success on Asia’s biggest stage and fight fans looking to get a glimpse of a potential future champion should head to Ultimate Beatdown 14 at the Educity Iskandar in Johor Bahru on Saturday night.
