Ultimate Beatdown 16 will be held on March 28, 2015 at the Plaza Sentosa in Johor, Malaysia. The event will be headlined by Mohd Fouzein versus George Mascardo Jr.
UB 16 will feature a whopping 33 fights, consisting of the MMA main card plus kickboxing and boxing bouts. Fouzein is well-known the the Malay MMA community having fought there in 11 of his 12 fights. Mascardo is also known in Malaysia as all of his fights have been there. This will be a rematch for the two. In a previous meeting, Fozein came out the victor with a first round arm bar.
About the match, Mascardo Jr stated,
“I will give the fans the show they deserve, by doing my utmost best and fight the fight everyone wants and deserves to see.”
“He is coming off a TKO victory in the previous Ultimate Beatdown but as the great GSP would say, I was not impressed with his performance. I am going to make a statement in this fight. I am no longer a one-dimensional fighter. I am a complete fighter now and the fans are in for a treat!”
Malaysia’s longest running promotion was originally the brainchild and effort of the Ultimate MMA gym, and has since grown into a platform for many of Malaysia’s burgeoning fight community to launch their careers. The promotion and the country’s MMA scene have evolved in tandem. Ultimate Beatdown continues to improve on its setting, officiating, and match making.
It’s also a platform for competitors from other combat sports to get their feet wet in MMA, as noted by regional BJJ competitors Alvin Ang and Hosein Basirian facing off, plus wrestlers Rahul Raju and Jarek Kochanowicz having a go at each other with punches included.
Regional amateur champions also dot the card. Singapore FC Bantamweight Champ Aloysius Toh will face Arthur Andre, and Malaysian Invasion MMA Middleweight Champ Chong Ji Yi will change up to light heavyweight against Shafiq Showtimer.
